CHAT show host Robert Kilroy-Silk is putting the final touches to his plans for a luxury swimming pool at his £1.75million house.
Chiltern District Council planners have approved the addition to the Grade II-listed Little Chalfont house that used to belong to the late film star Dirk Bogarde.
Preparatory work is now under way for the pool and building work will soon begin at Beel House, in White Lion Road, within the 16-acre country estate.
Mr Kilroy-Silk may also follow in the film star's footsteps in entertaining showbiz friends at the house, which is known to have seen greats like Judy Garland as guests.
But like his predecessor, who went to extraordinary lengths to protect his privacy, the former Labour MP keeps his socialising out of the spotlight.
Building work will take place beyond the two electronically operated doors in the massive deer park, which is guarded by a high-tech security system.
Chiltern District Councillor Don Phillips (Con, Little Chalfont) said he had been on a site visit to the house before and had to speak through an intercom system.
He added: 'The doors to the place look quite daunting and I had to speak into a machine in the wall, but once I got in there his wife was very nice and took me round the outside of the house.'
