A STUDENT'S first day at college was almost ruined because of overcrowded and late bus services.
Claire Woodward, 16, from Kingston Road, Terriers, was due to start a performing arts course at Amersham and Wycombe College on Monday but became worried when she couldn't catch the 8.05am bus from Terriers because it was full.
She then waited for the 8.25am bus but that too was packed. Claire's dad, Danny, who works shifts on the London Underground, said: 'She was at the bus stop at Terriers waiting for the 8.05. That bus was full before it got to Castle Street.
'By the time it got to Terriers it had behind it the 8.25 which was also full. The county council have sold all these bus passes which people can't use because the buses are full.'
In the end Claire had to rely on her father to take her to the college in Stanley Hill.
Mr Woodward said: 'What are these kids going to do? Amersham College has got all these kids on courses and they can't even get there
'Here we are in an age when my friend Mr 'two jags' Prescott is encouraging us to use public transport and my daughter is pestering me to buy her a scooter.'
Neil Matthews, spokesman for Amersham and Wycombe College, said: 'We haven't had any other complaints about this so we don't know the scale of the problem.
'We would be very keen for any students or parents that have had a problem to get in touch with us so we can lobby to get more buses put on.'
