A MILLENNIUM Festival has raised vital funds to restore a historic map.
The event was organised after the 125-year-old document was discovered in the vestry of St John's Church, Ashley Green. The map measures 8ft by 5ft 6 ins and shows the full extent of the parish.
More than £2,000 was raised at the festival in Ashley Green on Saturday. The money has been put into a millennium fund to restore the map and to build a playground for the village.
Barbara White, who helped with the event, said: 'It was brilliant and the weather was wonderful. It was totally successful and the the whole village turned out for it.'
The attractions at the event included an assault course, beer tent, birds of prey, art and craft stalls, and pony rides.
Mary Axon, festival co-ordinator who has lived in the village all her life, said: 'We had a perfect day and were exceptionally lucky with the weather.
'It was lovely to see the green so full of people and celebrations continued until midnight.'
