Distressed mum Mary Kelloway is warning parents about the dangers of the latest micro scooter craze after her son fell off the kerb on his new toy badly breaking his leg (Oct 3).
Lewis White, ten, was given a new micro scooter a week ago as an early Christmas present from his dad but the following day he was rushed to Wycombe Hospital by ambulance.
Lewis's injuries were so severe doctors were discussing whether to put bolts in his leg to knit the bones together.
Mum Mary, 42, from Gryms Dyke, Prestwood, got a call from a shopkeeper who told her her son had suffered an accident in Hazell Road last Saturday (Sept 22).
She dashed round to find her son's leg had turned 180 degrees after a kerbside stunt went wrong.
Lewis suffered a spiral fracture to his tibia and fibula as a result of the accident involving the £80 toy, which he had owned for less than 24 hours.
The accident comes just days after Little Kingshill schoolboy James Atherton had a nail lodged in his palm after falling on to rubble from a micro scooter.
Mary said: "I just wanted people to know how easy it is to injure yourself. He was in great pain.
"He praised the good samaritan shop owner who was very good in helping him."
The schoolboy will now have to suffer with his leg in plaster for another eight weeks as well as undergoing physiotherapy.
