The country's first modern day professional village witch is visiting Great Missenden to talk about paganism (Oct 4).

Cassandra Latham (pictured), from Cornwall, calls herself a 21st century witch. She has been invited to the village by Carolynn Clare Townsend, the county's new age author and tarot card consultant.

Cassandra is a qualified nurse, trained counsellor and a pagan minister for her local hospital. She is also a local representative of the Pagan Federation and publicity officer for the renowned Museum of Witchcraft at Boscastle in Cornwall.

She says: "Village wisewomen or witches have served their communities, despite persecution, up to and including the present day. They have been available for consultation, for a fee or trade, about all aspects of life using spells if necessary to help people live fulfilled lives."

Cassandra Latham will be at Great Missenden Memorial Hall on October 5 at 8pm
