Mother Sue Massey has criticised the education authority for failing to place her suspended son Shane in another school (Oct 5).

The 42-year-old was expecting Shane, 13, to start at Wendover House School, in Aylesbury, last month, after he was suspended from Hatters Lane School, in High Wycombe, in April.

The mother-of-three (pictured with her Shane) claims she has now been told Shane will have to wait for building work to be completed at the special school before he can start.

Mrs Massey, of Lingfield Close, Micklefield, High Wycombe, said Shane has not received any full-time education since April. She fears he is more than a year behind his age group and will have to drop back a year when he starts school.

Mrs Massey took her son out of Hatters Lane School after he kept being suspended for fighting. She thought he would be better suited to a special school because he was behind in maths and had trouble spelling.

She said: "It took me three years to get Shane a place at that school and now they say he can't go because of building problems."

A Buckinghamshire County Council spokesman said: "The school has been taken over by a company out of the area. The county council, school and that company will be arranging a meeting next week to review the situation."
