THE Big Breakfast organised by Beaconsfield firefighters proved a roaring success, with more than 170 meals being dished up to customers.
More than £580 was raised at the event which will be added to the money raised by the crews when they ran the Wycombe Half Marathon earlier this year.
The grand total of £1,079 will be presented to the Westfield School for children with behavioural difficulties in Bourne End.
The school will be using the fund to build an environmental garden.
Firefighter Ron Booth said: 'It was a hard day but I would like to thank everyone for coming along and putting their money in the pot.
'It was certainly different to firefighting, but there were times when I thought we might have to fight the fire on our own barbecue!'
