February 8, 2001 17:00: A CRIME-PREVENTION surgery is to take place with police urging people to help reduce the number of burglaries in the area.
An ongoing Home Office-funded burglary project has significantly reduced the number of burglaries committed in the High Wycombe area since it was introduced 16 months ago.
Officers are now urging the public to play their part and help cut the burglary rate further by attending the crime prevention surgery at Deeds Grove Methodist Church, Deeds Grove, High Wycombe, on Saturday, February 24, between 10.15am and 3.45pm.
Crime reduction officer PC Steve Kirby will be on hand to give crime prevention advice and there will be an opportunity to speak to Neighbourhood Watch members.
Discounted security products such as door locks will be available.
PC Kirby said: "I would encourage residents to attend this coming event and help us reduce burglary still further in the local area."
