February 9, 2001 9:24: MEMBERS of St John Ambulance in Amersham were delighted after receiving £2,000 worth of life-saving equipment.
The organisation based in Chichester Road, Amersham, received the new defibrillator (a machine which shocks the heart) on Saturday from Hilary Turner, who ran the London Marathon last year to raise the money.
She is the daughter of a member of the branch.
Lorraine Hayday, a defibrillator operator for the service, said: "We were very pleased she raised the money for it. £2,000 is not bad going.
"We have to take it everywhere we go, so it is a big help."
