February 13, 2001 9:18: IT was back to the slate for school pupils when ten and 11-year-olds donned Victorian costumes to help bring their history lessons to life.
Around 60 Year 6 pupils from Castlefield Combined School in Middle Way, Castlefield, High Wycombe, dressed up in old shawls, caps and breeches for Victorian Day on Thursday.
The school brought in an expert as part of the Victorian Day, which is held annually. Pupils also get the chance to participate in a Tudor Day and a Greek Day at other times of the year to bring their history to life.
Janis Harman, a Year 6 teacher at the school, said: "It is a wonderful way for the children to learn."
