February 20, 2001 12:28: SOUTH Bucks netball team claimed victory by the narrowest of margins over neighbours Oxfordshire with a 49-48 win on Saturday.
The victory ensured that Bucks maintained their unbeaten record in the English Counties League and leaves them top of the league.
Despite having several injuries, Bucks battled hard and were 14-10 down at the end of the first quarter.
But an impressive performance from centre Tracey Lane helped them pull it back to lead 23-22 at half-time.
Bucks managed to hand on to their narrow lead going into the last quarter 35-33 ahead.
They widened the gap to four goals with five minutes to go, but Oxfordshire clawed their way back to within a point before the final whistle, gave Bucks the victory.
The 2nds also had a successful day, beating Oxfordshire 42-36 in their game.
