February 22, 2001 9:31: AMBITIOUS Marlow Rugby Club could have three internationals on the field when they entertain Witney at Riverwoods on Saturday.
The pioneering club have signed Croatian internationals Mike Lunjevich and Jaska Loureta to boost their foreign legion.
The Croatians will join Czech Republic international Ladislav Vondrasek in a side full of Eastern European flavour and promise at Riverwoods,
Vondrasek is already firmly established as a favourite at Marlow and the club are hoping their new recruits will fit in just as well.
Scrum half Lunjevich made his debut in the unaccustomed position of full back in last Saturday's defeat at Slough while countryman and international flanker Loureta missed the clash because his paperwork was not completed in time.
Meanwhile, another new face could be about to join the Riverwoods revolution.
The club are on the lookout for a new hooker to replace Stu Burnham whose work commitments are making it harder for him to give his all to the club.
He has moved to a job in Andover and is finding it increasingly difficult to commute to Marlow for training.
Club manager Willie White said: "It's difficult to practice all your plays when your hooker is not there."
Marlow are now putting the feelers out for another hooker who they hope they will be able to build their play around.
Last Saturday, Marlow went down 26-15 after finding themselves 14-0 down inside the first 20 minutes.
But they clawed back ten points before the interval with Ross Coull's converted try and Murray Walker's successful penalty kick.
The second half began with Slough pulling away again before Marlow enjoyed their best period of play with Lunjevich showing his class making frequent incursions into the line.
With Andrew Gorringe-Smith repeatedly driving into the heart of the Slough defence, Marlow deservedly pulled a try back when, following a strong run down the touchline by Walker, Mark Stevely touched down.
