February 22, 2001 10:00: THE Wooburn and Bourne End committee of The Children's Society is appealing for volunteers following a "shocking" prison report.
Angela Hart, area fundraising manager, said that in light of the report from The Children's Society they are having to appeal for more volunteers.
She said: "Prison is being used as a warehouse for some of the country's most damaged children.
"The Wooburn and Bourne End committee is fundraising to support work with children on remand in prisons, the community alternatives to custody, bail support and restorative justice services.
"However more volunteers are needed."
Fundraisers are needed to either join the existing team or fundraise in other capacities. Contact Jette Peddie on (01628) 851135 or Angela Hart on (01844) 292242.
