February 26, 2001 16:50: FIREFIGHTERS from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue have issued advice on flipping methods on pancake day and say they will be standing by while others celebrate Shrove Tuesday today.
Firefighters said in terms of fire safety the kitchen represents one of the most dangerous rooms in the house.
Over the last 12 months there were 382 fires in kitchens and 46 victims were burned or injured in Bucks over the last 12 months through overheated pans.
Station Officer Chris Gill, said: "Cooking and flipping pancakes is great fun but people should take care with hot oil.
"You hardly need any oil and people should be very wary that they flip their pancakes away from the cooker so that if the tossed pancake isn't caught it can be easily cleared up."
