February 28, 2001 10:59: AN organiser of one of the groups which meets at an arts centre is calling for more vision before the town loses a vital asset.

The Vitae Drumming Circle meets and practises at the Arts Centre in Spring Gardens, High Wycombe, but the centre is set to close in May because of a lack of funding.

Although Wycombe District Council has fought to save the centre it simply does not have the funds to keep the facility going.

Jed Hoile, organiser of the drumming circle, said: "I think it could be made to be open to a vast number of cultures in the town.

"High Wycombe is a unique town in that it has got a good mix of people.

"That centre could be bigger and better than it is at the moment and it is a shame there is no vision.

"Personally I don't think anyone is considering what could be done because of the cash implications."

The comments come after the drumming circle held a festival with over 200 visitors on February 17.

Mr Hoile said it would be difficult to find somewhere else to hold such an event where the noise could be tolerated and the group could practise.
