February 28, 2001 11:04: THE elderly and infirm are set to benefit after a community was finally given the zebra crossing it had been demanding for 15 years.
Councillors say speeding traffic has been a problem on the Straight Bit, Flackwell Heath, for some time but last week the county council finally placed a zebra crossing on the road to help people get from the doctors' surgery to the shops.
Cllr Ken Ross, county councillor for Flackwell Heath, said: "It took 20 years to get the roundabout in Flackwell Heath, 15 years to get the roundabout at the bottom of Treadaway Hill and this is something I have been keeping the pressure on for 12 to 15 years."
Cllr John Savage, Wycombe district councillor for Flackwell Heath, said: "It is going to be a great benefit. Our big problem in this village is speeding cars."
