AN unusual book has revealed that Buckinghamshire is a county of Marmite lovers who cannot get enough of the black goo.

The Mish-Mash Dictionary of Marmite by Maggie Hall is a light-hearted look at the spread people either love or hate.

Ms Hall said: "I was taken by how many times my research led me to Buckinghamshire. It turned out to be Marmite central."

Graham Hall, of Halls of Hazlemere butchers, looks after Buck's Marmite lovers with a top-selling Marmite sausage.

He said: “Most of us at work like Marmite so we came up with the idea to make a sausage with it.

“It was a hit right from the very word go and has been popular ever since. We won an award from Smithfields for them a couple of years ago.”

Great Missenden resident Helen Graham has been an avid collector of all things Marmite since the 70s and has more than 50 Marmite jars and products which cover three shelves in her home.

And the biggest seller for Silver Editions, of Chalfont St Peter, is its range of silver lids for Marmite jars and its 'Survival Kit' -a 250gram jar of Marmite, a silver plated lid and spreading knife, packed in an aluminium carrying case.
