THE wife of Timmy Mallett said she will be amazed if the former childrens TV star is drafted into survival show Im a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here.
Timmy, 45, is on stand-by for the ITV1 programme in case any of the celebrities roughing it in the Australian rain forest, including Jordan and Peter Andre, pull out.
Lynda Mallett, 42, who lives in Cookham with her husband and son Billy, 11, said: It would be very interesting to see how he would get on in there. He doesnt mind creepy crawlies and I think when you have the whole camp relying on you to get through you will rise to the challenge. It is all very safe over there so there would be no worries.
Timmy (pictured left), former presenter of kids show Wackaday and famous for his soft toy mallet, was flown out to Australia on Friday. He will find out if he is to get a chance on the show before the weekend when the first celebrity gets voted off.
Lynda, originally from Melbourne, in Australia, added: Timmy was not too sure about it at first but he has been having a great time over there seeing some friends and doing some shopping. He is having a ball.
He has hired a push bike and has been doing some riding. He has to be within an hour of the camp at all times just in case he is needed.
I am not sure if I really want to see him on the show because I think our son Billy might get a bit of stick.
Lynda said Timmy would not be allowed to take his mallet into the camp because it was deemed an offensive weapon.
The show also includes former Sex Pistols singer John Lydon and royal correspondent Jennie Bond. Celebrities have to perform gruesome tasks mostly involving insects and are voted off by the public.
Lynda said Timmy will stay in Australia for a few more days, even if he is not needed on the show, and see some sights.
