High Wycombe’s Environment Centre on Holywell Mead will be celebrating a key role as a hub for local environmental groups with an Open Weekend on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July 2009.
Groups who use The Centre for their shared aims of preserving and protecting our local and global environment in the face of the many challenges of today’s world will be on hand with exhibitions of their work. There will also be competitions and activities for children, some local produce and a welcoming cup of tea or cold drink with homemade cake.
The Centre plays a vital role within the local community, not only as a home to these many groups, but also • as an important educational resource • as a resource of information on many topics from home insulation and alternative energy to how to develop a wildlife friendly garden.
• a wide range of information on beekeeping with a demonstration hive, and talks and courses run by the High Wycombe Beekeepers Association, • and delicious local honey for sale!
A diverse range of voluntary groups will be represented with interests including the protection of local wildlife, recycling, composting and preparing for a low carbon future. There will be opportunities for finding out about the activities of all these groups and, perhaps, how to become involved as a volunteer.
We would like to invite everyone who is thinking of heading down to the Rye on the 18th or 19th of July to come and find out what goes on and what we are planning for our future programme.
The Environment Centre will be open between 11.00am and 4.00pm on Saturday 18th and between 9.00am and 4pm Sunday 19th (Wycombe Half Marathon day) For more information please contact the Environment Centre on 01494 511585 or go to www.ecobuzz.org.uk
