Bees, Birds and People!
Our Beekeepers gave the beehive its spring clean yesterday and now you can really see what the bees are up to! Come and see them as they return to the hive with pollen sacs filled, perform their waggle dance, start to rebuild the honeycomb and fill it with nectar.
New this week is a family of Bumblebees. You can get a close-up look at the nest and learn about the differences between Honey and Bumble bees.
Also check out the birds’ songs at our Birdsong! exhibition and see live pictures of our Blue tit mum with her chicks that hatched on Friday 14th! They are so tiny - big mouth with a tiny bird behind it. The male Blue tit flies back and forward constantly with choice worms and insects for the chicks. Don’t miss it – the will grow and then fly away very quickly!
It’s all happening at The Environment Centre which will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily during half term. If you’d like to help our visitors get the most out of their call why not join our friendly team of volunteers? - You’d be made most welcome.
