STAFF at the Homebase and Argos stores in High Wycombe supported National Heart Month by wearing red last weekend.
They were taking part in the 'Wear Red to Work Day' campaign to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. The stores were joined by the foundation’s Mr Hearty mascot.
Shafiqur Rahman, acting store manager of Homebase, in London Road , said: “We are thrilled to be taking part in the BHF’s national campaign to celebrate National Heart Month.
“Wearing red to work was an easy and fun way for communities to back the campaign, helping to raise both awareness of this important cause and also the vital funds it needs.”
The campaign was launched on February 1 to encourage people to wear red for their loved ones and to raise awareness of the heart and circulatory disease.
Jackie Skeel, head of national campaigns at the BHF, said: “We are very excited about our new fundraising campaign for National Heart Month this February.
“We are anticipating seeing both businesses and the public turn red for their loved ones throughout the month to show support and raise funds.
“We are very grateful to Homebase and Argos for actively backing this campaign and encouraging all staff, in over 1,000 stores combined, to wear red to work.”
Over 200,000 people a year in the UK die from heart disease and 2.5 million people in the UK are living with coronary heart disease.
Homebase and Argos stores across the UK are working together over the next 18months to raise £2million for the charity.
