THE UK military's UFO investigation team has moved to High Wycombe.

Civil servants from the Ministry of Defence, who receive reports of strange objects in the sky, have taken up residence at RAF Air Command in Naphill.

The team moved from offices in London to Naphill at the start of the year and has been investigating unidentified flying objects - or UFOs - ever since.

However, Ministry of Defence spokesman Darragh McElroy said that they were more concerned with military threats than little green men.

“The MoD examines reports solely to establish whether UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity,” he said.

“Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, there is no attempt to identify the nature of each sighting reported.”

Over the years residents have spotted a number of mysterious objects in the skies over High Wycombe.

According Graham Pawley, on September 30, 2007, he spotted an object “slightly bigger than a bright star like Sirius” crossing the night sky over the town.

Posting his observations of the website UFO Watch, Mr Pawley wrote: “I looked up and noticed what I initially thought was a bright star but then I noticed that it was moving south easterly.

“I took a reference from two stars which appeared close to it, this object moved roughly twice the speed of a high altitude passenger aircraft.

“It was definitely a very long way away, certainly not within the Earth's atmosphere.

“I don't think it was a satellite, I have done a bit of amateur astronomy with binoculars and have never seen anything like this white light object before. It travelled away from me until it disappeared behind some light cloud cover in the east.”

In 1995, Greg Alexander spotted a strange flying shape over Booker airfield as he drove towards the A40 from his Downley home.

He wrote: “It was a silver-white cigar shaped object and what attracted my attention to it were the strange fairy lights immediately beneath it.

“They were rather peculiar in appearance and were not point sources but came and went in a rather ethereal manner. They were multicoloured, red, green and yellow.

“It is quite possible that the object was actually part of an air show being held at Booker, though I don't specifically recall one being held at the time.

“However having turned my car round to head back home to retrieve my binoculars, by the time I got back the object had gone.”
