PUPILS at Mary Towerton School in Studley Green enjoyed their Christmas present from the Friends PTA today.
The rubberised surface with a giant boat in the middle has been put in the playground to encourage the youngsters to play outside.
The Friends PTA have worked extremely hard over the past two and a half years, arranging activities such as reindeer drives, summer fairs, and barn dances, in order to raise the £10,000 needed to give the children a permanent place to have fun.
Sarah Leighton, headteacher of the school said “The aim was to take learning out of the classroom and get the children to enjoy being fit and healthy”
The school is made up of only 38 pupils aged 5-7 and is entirely community driven with parents even meeting up outside of school functions.
“It just goes to show that tiny schools can achieve amazing things.
“The children love their new playground” she added The school have plans to extend their learning outside scheme in the future with help from the Friends PTA to give continuous benefits to its pupils.
