A personal trainer in High Wycombe has won a prize at this year’s National Fitness Awards.
Hilary Spearing, who runs the Functional Fitness Studio on Cryers Hill, was recognised by the NFA for her hard work over the last 12 months, as she was nominated for the Gym-based Personal Trainer Award, along with the Functional Training Gym of the Year award.
She managed to claim the former at the lavish ceremony at the Athena Events Hall in Leicester on November 29, four days after her birthday.
She said: “My dream came true last night [November 29].
“After being shortlisted from around 20,000 fitness trainers, I brought home the trophy of UK personal trainer of the year 2024.
“I could not have done it without the support of all my amazing clients and friends/ family
“I am beyond proud as I do this amazing work, but sometimes very solitary, all on my own.
"I have no team behind me, just my awesome and loyal clients
“I thank you all."
The PT’s business caters to those who are not able-bodied and primarily helps individuals who are battling degenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease, multiple sclerosis and arthritis.
It was launched in November 2019, and after the coronavirus pandemic hit in March 2020, she moved to a virtual way of teaching lessons, which proved popular with numerous clients.
She added: "I'm absolutely elated to have won.
"Having come second in the category of functional training gym of the year I was shortlisted for two categories this year
"I strive to do my best for my clients, constantly studying and keeping up with my CPD qualifications."
