A road closure along a High Wycombe street has been lifted after the police, fire brigade and ambulance all were reported to the scene.
In the morning of Sunday, December 1, the emergency services were called to Desborough Avenue in the town after a ‘suspicious substance’ was found in the area.
Despite the heavy presence, a spokesperson from Thames Valley Police confirmed that the road closure was due to a ‘precautionary measure’, and that residents along the street were advised to ‘keep their windows and doors closed’.
By mid-afternoon on the same day, the cordon was lifted with the force announcing that there was ‘no wider risk to the public’.
Thames Valley Police said: “Officers will remain in the area, so if you have any concerns, please feel free to stop and speak to any of them at the scene.
“Superintendent Euan Livingstone from the Buckinghamshire Local Command Unit would like to thank the local community for their patience whilst we dealt with this.”
