Over £12,000 has been raised for a Buckingham pub after it was badly flooded by Storm Bert.
The New Inn, which is based along Bridge Street in the town, lost ‘all of its stock’ after large amounts of water entered its cellar less than a month before Christmas.
Footage shot by the pub’s landlady Lousie Maloney shows the rainwater had submerged most of the garden, as well as sections inside of the vicinity.
However, numerous locals have clubbed together to raise a brilliant five-figure amount for Lousie and her husband Lee, who is the landlord.
At the time of writing, £12,566 has been donated in the past few days, smashing the target of £10,000 via GoFundMe.
The page reads: “We are trying to raise some funds to help Lee & Lou of The New Inn in Buckingham survive in business following the devastating flood this week which wiped out all of the stock in their cellar.
“This wasn’t insured due to previous flood incidents and Buckingham risks losing two of the best the pub industry has to offer.”
Speaking on social media, Louise said: “A massive thank you for all of the kindness and support from our lovely friends and family.
“We love you and appreciate your support.
“Lee and I are absolutely sobbing with all the kindness, generosity and support of all our lovely friends and family-we are overwhelmed.
“Thank you.”
