A new affordable housing development has been given the go-ahead.
Plans to build 51 affordable homes in High Wycombe have been approved by Buckinghamshire Council.
The development, by Hightown Housing Association, will replace the derelict building on Desborough Road with 27 one-bedroom flats and 24 two-bedroom flats.
Of these, 11 will be duplex apartments, and 12 will be wheelchair accessible.
The homes will be energy-efficient, featuring air source heat pumps, solar panels, green roofs, and electric vehicle charging points.
Andrew Royall, director of development at Hightown Housing Association, said: "I am delighted that we have been given the go-ahead to build these much-needed homes in Buckinghamshire.
"With a very high demand for accommodation in Buckinghamshire, I am pleased that Hightown can contribute to alleviate the housing crisis in the area."
A brownfield site, vacant since 2011 and acquired by Hightown in October 2022, will be used for the development.
The site on Desborough Road is centrally located and within easy reach of the shopping centre, leisure facilities, and public transport links.
High Wycombe railway station, which offers regular services to London Marylebone, is a 15-minute walk away.
A start date for construction has not yet been announced, but it is hoped work will begin in summer 2025.
The homes are intended to provide accommodation for those on Buckinghamshire Council's housing register.
