The council has submitted plans to convert a bungalow into a new children's home.
The authority has applied for planning permission to convert 'Belmont' on Handleton Common, Lane End into a home for young people.
The existing property is a detached three-bedroom home with a garden and a summer house, as well as parking.
If approved, the building would accommodate two children on a long-term basis who will be supported by a member of staff providing 24-hour supervision.

It is expected that the property would 'function similarly to a normal family home environment.'
Access to the property would remain unchanged though the existing parking would be altered to create two new off-street parking spaces.
An area for bicycles to be used by staff and residents would also be built.
A solar panel would be installed on the side of the roof to 'enhance the energy efficiency' of the building with an air source heat pump added to the rear.
The application was submitted on November 7 and a decision is expected to be made by January 17, 2025.
