A Slough man has paid a £1,000 fine for dumping garden waste.
Caught by Buckinghamshire Council surveillance on Allerds Road, Burnham, Buckinghamshire, the man avoided prosecution.
He told council officers 'the nearby recycling site was closed' and admitted dumping in a spot he had seen others use.
Buckinghamshire Council only issues Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN) when there is strong evidence for potential prosecution.
By paying the FPN, the man avoided a criminal record and further fines.
Fly-tipping is the illegal dumping of rubbish, whether it's a single bag or a vehicle load of rubbish. It is a criminal offence and punishable by an unlimited fine or imprisonment.
Buckinghamshire Council is asking residents in Buckinghamshire and beyond to help reduce the amount of rubbish that is fly-tipped with one simple message – don't pay cash to get rid of your trash.
If you’re unsure of how to make sure you’re doing the right thing when someone is taking away your rubbish, Buckinghamshire Councils' S.C.R.A.P. fly-tipping campaign code is a useful tool.
