High Wycombe murder: Four men jailed over death of Cameron Bailey

The sentences relate to the death of the 17-year-old boy from West Sussex and the wounding of his friend, another boy who was also aged 17 at the time.

Cameron Bailey and his friend both travelled from the Brighton area of West Sussex to High Wycombe in May of 2023.

On May 6, 2023, Jayden Gubetini, aged 18, of Coe Spur, Slough, travelled from Slough to High Wycombe and robbed both victims of drugs.

This incident was not reported at the time.

The following day Gubetini returned to High Wycombe alongside three men - Scott Cordice, Aaran Pattinson, and Philip Solomon - and robbed Cameron Bailey and his friend again in King’s Court, Easton Street, High Wycombe.

During this robbery Cameron Bailey was fatally stabbed and his friend was wounded.

Despite the best efforts of the South Central Ambulance Service, Cameron Bailey was sadly pronounced deceased by the paramedics at the scene.

Following a trial at Reading Crown Court lasting nine weeks, Jayden Gubetini was found guilty by unanimous jury verdict on 24 October of one count each of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit robbery and section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent.

Gubetini is due to be sentenced on Tuesday, December 10. 

Now Aaran Pattinson, aged 33, of Station Close, High Wycombe, has been sentenced to ten years and six months’ imprisonment.  He had previously pleaded guilty to one count each of manslaughter and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Pattinson was found not guilty of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm and murder.

Philip Solomon, aged 38, of no fixed abode, was also jailed for ten years and six months. He previously pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit robbery. He was found not guilty of one count each of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, murder and manslaughter.

Scott Cordice, aged 30, of Station Close, High Wycombe, was sentenced to eight years and six months’ imprisonment. He was previously found guilty by unanimous jury verdict of one count of conspiracy to commit robbery.

Cordice was found not guilty of one count each of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, murder and manslaughter.

Marlon Cato, aged 51, of Station Close, High Wycombe, was jailed for five years and six months.

He was previously found guilty by majority jury verdict of two counts of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A drug and guilty by unanimous jury verdict of one count of assisting an offender.

A Home Office post-mortem confirmed that the cause of Cameron Bailey’s death was a stab wound to the back.

As a result of the attack, Cameron’s friend sustained a cut to the top of his head, a fractured skull and a cut to his hand which required surgery.

An investigation was subsequently launched by the Major Crime Unit.

Cordice, Pattinson, Solomon and Cato were charged on 11 and 12 May last year.

Having fled to the Netherlands, Gubetini was returned to the UK on July 5 last year and was put before the court the following day.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Stuart May, of the Major Crime Unit, said: “I am pleased that Pattinson, Solomon, Cordice and Cato have been sentenced in connection with the murder of Cameron Bailey.

“This was a complex investigation, and through diligent investigative work, we were able to identify the men involved in the death of Cameron Bailey and who will now spend a significant time behind bars.

“Too often, we are reminded of the danger of carrying and using knives, the devastating consequences and the impact such a short moment in time has on the victim, their family and friends.

“Violence and knife crime will never be tolerated in the Thames Valley and the offenders now have a long time in custody to reflect on their actions that night.

“Knife carrying will not be tolerated in High Wycombe, and through Operation Deter, you can expect to be robustly dealt with, charged, remanded and placed before the courts.

“My thoughts and that of Thames Valley Police very much remain with the family of Cameron Bailey and his friend at this difficult time.
