The vicar who led Liam Payne’s funeral service at St Mary’s Church in Amersham on Wednesday said he is praying for the singer, his family and loved ones.
The 31-year-old, who lived in Chalfont St Giles prior to his death, died on October 16 after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina.
The former One Direction singer leaves behind his seven-year-old son, Bear, who he had with Girls Aloud star, Cheryl Tweedy.
The latter currently lives in Chalfont St Peter, and after the two split in 2018, Payne moved to Buckinghamshire to be closer to his child.
Reverend Jonny Rapson said in a statement to the PA news agency: “We will continue to hold Liam, his family and his loved ones in our prayers on what must have been a very difficult day.”
Payne’s funeral on November 20 was attended by his ex-1D bandmates in Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, whilst music manager, record producer and talent scout Simon Cowell, who partly formed the group in 2010, was also present.
Ex-Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool striker Robbie Keane, presenters Jordan North, Scott Mills, Chris Stark, Marvin and Michelle Humes and Adrian Chiles also paid their respects.
High Wycombe’s very own James Cordon was also spotted at the funeral in Amersham.
Cleaner Alicia Salisbury, 32, travelled from London to Buckinghamshire to pay her respects to the late singer.
She said: “What a legend.
“One Direction are the biggest boy band of all time.
“Plus solo artist, dancer, actor, you can’t really beat that.
“What a career he had.
“He’ll always hold a special place in everyone’s heart.”
