A group of residents have called on Buckinghamshire Council to make improvements to Marlow’s skate park in Higginson Park.
Thirty people have signed an online petition asking the unitary authority to build a new BMX track, an outdoor gym and other facilities in the park.
Their short letter reads: “We the undersigned petition the council to enhance Marlow skate park and build a pump track with gym equipment for children.
“The wellbeing of our children depends on it!”
The petition, which was published on November 11 this year, will remain live until December 12, pending further consideration by the council.
Bucks Council rules state that petitions must receive at least 10 signatures to be considered valid.
The petition comes as another BMX ‘pump’ track has just been given planning permission in Aylesbury’s Bedgrove Park.
Marlow’s skate park is in the southwest of Higginson Park, which is open all year round, and already benefits from several facilities, including a large children’s playground and a cricket pitch run by Marlow Park Cricket Club.
The green space, which sits on a bank of the River Thames, is also home to Marlow Bowls Club and the leisure centre, which has a swimming pool, gym and tennis facilities.
