Youngsters at Carrington Junior School in Flackwell Heath were treated to a visit from Wycombe Wanderers star players, Ryan Tafazolli and Bez Lubala earlier this month.
The Year Four pupils were taking part in a new Wanderers Learning initiative developed by Phil Catchpole, head of TV and broadcasting at Wycombe Wanderers and Wycombe Wanderers Foundation.
The class were split into two teams, ‘Team Taff’ and ‘Team Bez’, to undertake a series of maths challenges, all based on football.
After a very competitive afternoon, the winners were decided through a ‘keepy-uppy’ competition between the two players.
‘Team Taff’ emerged as the winners.
To end, both players took part in a question-and-answer session, answering many questions on all aspects of their lives, not just football.
Bez Lubala said: “I was very privileged to support the Wycombe Wanderers Learning project, with Ryan Taffazolli this week.
“The children were brilliantly engaged and showed a real appetite to learn.
“Football is a fantastic vehicle to bring people together, have fun and develop yourself socially.”
Year Four teacher, Paul Withams, added, “By using the power of sport, and football in particular, maths is brought alive.
The children have had a great time using and developing their mathematical knowledge and understanding. Wycombe Wanderers continue to play a fantastic role within our community.”
