A new vineyard in Marlow has set out its plans to make wine after completing its first harvest.

Marlow Valley Vineyard revealed its plans for the future in a new planning application to Buckinghamshire Council.

The business plans to build a viticultural storage building at the farm where it is based just off Mundaydean Lane.

This will house its farming machinery, fertilisers, tools and fencing materials, as well as ‘possible and probable’ wine making equipment in the near future.

Proposals read: “The vineyard has just completed its first harvest which is a major achievement given the time frame from planting to harvest, now on to wine production.

“From the five-acre vineyard a total of 10.5 tonnes of grapes were harvested, differing varietals but a successful harvest. The experts are predicting a double harvest of up to 22 tonnes next year!”

Marlow Valley Wines was formed in 2021 on the Valley Farm Estate after 24.68 acres of land was purchased from Copyhold Farm.

Those behind the vineyard did ‘extensive research’ to see if the land could grow grapes before the first of around 11,200 vines were planted in 2021.

Marlow Valley Vineyard said its winery was still in ‘embryo stages’ and that it was ‘working closely’ with neighbouring vineyards, including the award-winning Harrow & Hope.
