Pubs in Buckinghamshire are some of the finest in the country, winning national awards and being recognised for their cosy atmosphere and great food.

But what do punters think of them?

Here are five hilarious Tripadvisor reviews of pubs across Wycombe.

1. The Flint Cottage

This pub, on Amersham Hill, has been highly recommended by punters for showing live sport and having a great selection of beers.

In a review left on Tripadvisor, the pub superfan said: "This is our local, and we love it.

"Clive and the team are always welcoming. Their equivalent of Guinness (Genesis) is really good. They don't do food, but you can order in your favourite takeaway

"You also don't get any Muppets in which is a real plus."

2. Mad Squirrel Tap & Bottle Shop

Known for their array of beer choices and tasty pizzas, the Mad Squirrel is a popular choice for punters in town.

One reviewer compared it to being "almost painfully hipster" but a "good addition to Wycombe town centre."

Adding: "Normally I'd steer clear of trendy hipster joints with overpriced and overhopped 'craft' beer, however this one works well on Church Street as it is completely different to, and much better than either chain pubs or the pubs with any hint of character that have either closed or been turned in to 'sports' bars."

3. The General Havelock

Even though the vast majority of reviews are positive, one review struck out for being detailed in its recommendations on how it can improve.

They said: "Dinners arrived within 15 mins, looked good and tasted good, veggies were “al dente” to our liking.

"However, the lunch was badly let down as both plates contained just 1 medium size roast potato. Should have maybe asked for another but didn’t want to feel like a pair of “Oliver’s”."

The owner at the time responded to this review with: "We're pleased you enjoyed the pub and meals, you'll be pleased to know that next time you come in you'll be happier with the amount of potatoes served with your Sunday roast. "

4. Yates

If you're up for a good night out then Yates in Frogmoor is the place to go, offering good music, quick pint pulling and sturdy pool tables.

Also, you can do a bit of karaoke there as well.

One person said: "Some of the cheapest drinks in town. Has Karaoke and pool tables.

"Currently listening to some of the best/worst karaoke of my life."

5. The Cherry Tree

(Image: Google) Just outside of High Wycombe you'll find this lovely pub in Flackwell Heath, where portion sizes are good and the drinks are cold.

One reviewer: "Unpretentious local pub in the centre of the village. We drop in for lunch every so often. Traditional pub grub, and real ales.

"Doesn't pretend to do gourmet meals , but the prices reflect that. You can get a decent lunch and drink for two people, and have change from £20. Staff friendly. Top 5* FSA hygiene rating. No garden, but a small patio area with a few tables where you can sit out in good weather, if it isn't being monopolised by smokers."
