A competition has been launched to name a new café.

Buckinghamshire Council is inviting the public to take part, with the winner receiving a year’s worth of free parking at Buckinghamshire Country Parks and VIP entry to the café's grand opening.

Currently under construction in Black Park Country Park, the café will have indoor and outdoor seating, a takeaway hatch for snacks and drinks, and improved toilets.

The new café will be operated by the park’s current catering company, San Remo, and will offer a variety of hot and cold drinks, meals, and snacks.

The Lakeside Café and toilets on the opposite side of the lake will remain open for visitors during construction.

The winner's suggestion will be chosen by a panel of judges and will be announced on January 27, 2025.

Entries are open until January 5, 2025, and can be submitted by emailing the name suggestion, along with the entrant’s full name and postal address, to countryparks@buckinghamshire.gov.uk.

The new café is expected to open in spring 2025.

Clive Harriss, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, said: "We are excited to see the new café take shape and look forward to welcoming visitors to enjoy the enhanced facilities.

"This naming competition is a wonderful opportunity for the community to get involved and leave a lasting mark on Black Park."
