A community housing association has celebrated the 100th birthday of one of its tenants.

Red Kite Community Housing marked the milestone for Eileen, their oldest tenant, on Monday, November 11.

Eileen, who has been with the High Wycombe-based association since 1985, was joined by fellow tenants from nearby Red Kite sheltered schemes.

Mary, another tenant, baked a fruit cake, which Dave, another tenant, decorated.

Kevin Eckley, Red Kite’s Sheltered Services Manager, delivered a speech praising Eileen's milestone.

He said: "What a fantastic achievement it is for Eileen.

"We were delighted to be able to join in with her birthday party and present her with a bouquet of flowers.

"It was lovely to see everyone having such a great time in the scheme’s common room and joining together to mark such a wonderful occasion."

The evening concluded with Mr Eckley leading a toast in Eileen's honour, accompanied by the playing of 'Come on Eileen'.

Eileen was also showered with cards and gifts from friends and neighbours, including a special birthday card from King Charles.

Known for her cheerful spirit, Eileen has touched the hearts of many in her community.

One of her neighbours said: "Eileen is the nicest person I’ve ever met – she always has a smile on her face, and I’ve never heard a single moan come out of her mouth!"
