Veterans in High Wycombe commemorated Remembrance Day with a heartfelt service.
A bugler playing the Last Post, a two-minute silence, and the laying of poppy wreaths marked the solemn occasion at the Royal Star & Garter care home.
Personnel from RAF High Wycombe joined the Armistice Day service on Monday, November 11, while some residents and staff had paid their respects at the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph on Whitehall the previous day.
The Royal Star & Garter charity provides care for veterans and their partners living with disabilities or dementia.
During the home service, residents participated in wreath-laying, and RAF members joined in with readings and hymns.
Afterward, all enjoyed tea and pastries together.
On Remembrance Sunday, High Wycombe residents took part in the national parade at the Cenotaph with thousands of other veterans and serving personnel.
Notable attendees included Cynthia, the first female Air Commodore in the RAF’s history, and Ross, a former member of the Women’s Royal Naval Service.
In the lead-up to Remembrance, residents engaged in poppy-themed arts and crafts that decorated the home.
Royal Star & Garter had previously announced that a former soldier in its High Wycombe home received the Nuclear Test Medal for his hazardous work 65 years ago on Christmas Island after hydrogen bomb tests.
