A new film studios site is coming to Buckinghamshire, while new reservoirs are set to be built and plans for a Wetherspoons pub have been approved.

These are just some of the many applications considered by Buckinghamshire Council during the past seven days.

New film studios site, Wycombe Air Park, Clay Lane, Booker (24/07215/PNP4E)

Wycombe Film Studios has been given permission to build five temporary workshops and for a temporary backlot in a southern part of the aerodrome.

Council officers gave the company ‘prior approval’ for its plans, which include up to 204 parking spaces.

The single storey ‘demountable’ workshops can be positioned on pads on the ground without the need for excavations, according to the applicant, and will be ‘comparatively lower’ than the studio’s sound stages.

Film activities on the land can now take place November 2025, with a planned shoot period between April and May set to last from 7am to 8pm.

The studios said that on the rare occasions filming includes night shoots and special effects such as explosions or gunfire, ‘prior notice’ will be given to nearby residents including with leaflets and in a WhatsApp group the company says it will set up.

Wycombe Film Studios has also submitted other planning applications for the air park, which is owned by the council.

Plans to use the site for filming are under consideration, while a bid to create a new film and TV studios at the site, including building new sound stages and other facilities, are awaiting the outcome of negotiations for ‘Section 106 contributions’ – financial payments made by developers.

Construction of three water storage reservoirs, Harewood Downs Golf Club, Cokes Lane, Chalfont St Giles (PL/24/3161/FA)

Applicant 2iC Consultants has applied for the reservoirs, one of which will be single and two of which will be interlinked.

Its submitted plans also include engineering works for storing water on the golf course with existing irrigation pumping.

Plans read: “The objective of the proposal is to be able to store around one full years’ worth of irrigation water and not have any requirement to abstract water from the town mains water supply for golf course irrigation purposes.”

Changes to new Wetherspoons, Market Square, Marlow (24/07047/VCDN)

Planners have signed off changes to the pub chain’s latest boozer, which opened at the top of Marlow High Street in September.

Wetherspoons submitted a part retrospective planning application for the Grand Assembly, which replaced the former M&Co clothing store.

The alterations include changes to the design and positioning of the pergola, alterations to the beer garden boundary wall and railings, fire escape gate positions, lighting, rooflight design, smoke ventilation vents, cladding and external features.
