A NEW interactive map has revealed where some of the most loved movies of all time were shot in the UK - and one was filmed right here in Buckinghamshire.

Virgin Media has created the new interactive "Movie Mapper" showing where some of the most famous Blockbuster movies have been filmed across the country.

The map shows Bucks pops up briefly in Great Expectations, where Olivia Coleman plays a mesmerizingly sinister Miss Havisham in the historical drama television miniseries developed by Steven Knight, based on the 1861 novel by Charles Dickens.

Some of the scenes for the 2023 TV show were filmed in Marlow on the bridge for the London Bridge location.

Marlow Bridge is a very popular filming location with TV crews filming scenes for the Marlow Murder Club. The TV show based on Robert Thorogood's 2021 novel of the same name and follows retired archaeologist Judith Potts (Bond) as she recruits two new friends, Becks (Horgan) and Suzie (Martin), to solve the mysterious death of her neighbour across the Thames.

Although Thorogood kept to his promise of not irking residents by closing the town's historic bridge for filming purposes, crews managed to get some gorgeous shots of the structure regardless - including one taken at sunset and another of Judith cycling along the footpath on her way to hunt for clues.

The county of Buckinghamshire itself has attracted production crews in recent years, with Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and David Tennant recently spotted in Little Missenden for the filming for Netflix’s adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club.

Next week, highly anticipated movie Wicked starring Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elthaba will appear on cinema screens, but residents may remember it was filmed in Buckinghamshire.

The film adaptation of Wicked, the Broadway sequel to The Wizard of Oz, first began filming in the village of Ivinghoe in Leighton Buzzard in April 2023.

The area was transformed with the famous yellow brick road as seen in The Wizard of Oz (1939) starring Judy Garland.
