A planning application has been put forward to potentially have two cycling routes implemented between Amersham and Chesham.
Officially dubbed the Chesham to Misbourne Valley walking and wheeling route, the idea is to have ‘a more accessible walking route between the River Misbourne at Old Amersham and the River Chess in Chesham called the Two Rivers Walk’.
The route will be adjacent to the River Misbourne, as well as several social areas such as Parsonage Woods and Hervines Park.
If approved, it will roughly take walkers half-an-hour to trek from Amersham Old Town to Chesham.
A section of the planning application reads: “Chiltern Society and Chilterns National Landscape have been working with Sustrans to identify a new and accessible walking route around the River Chess catchment.
“This collaboration forms part of the Smarter Water Catchment Programme funded by Thames Water.
“In July 2023 Sustrans hosted a stakeholder workshop to look at options for new routes leading to a recommendation to develop a new, more accessible walking route between the River Misbourne at Old Amersham and the River Chess in Chesham called the Two Rivers Walk.”
Public engagement boards have been put up in sections of Chesham Bois Common, and between Mayhall Lane and Howlett's Wood, providing information on the project and pointing users to the online survey.
The boards will be removed in early December 2024.
