A man has been arrested after a series of assaults that saw a woman stabbed and another man hospitalised. 

The individual, aged in his 20s, was detained by members of the public in Desborough Road after a number of incidents across High Wycombe. 

Police say they received reports of five assaults over an hour period in Dean Close, Conifer Rise and Desborough Road. 

One man remains in hospital due to his injuries. 

But after an investigation was launched and extra police patrols took place, two more assaults were reported on Thursday.

A woman was approached and stabbed on the Cressex Industrial estate. 

Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening but she remains in hospital. 

A man was then assaulted at a shop in Desborough Road where the suspect was later arrested.

The individual remains in custody at this time. 

Detective Chief Inspector Sally Spencer, said: “We have made an arrest in connection with these incidents, which will no doubt will have caused concern in the community.

“I can confirm that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with these incidents and they are not linked to any other reports of disorder in Castlefield.

“Further patrols will continue in the area and we will be working to progress our investigation and we will also be working within the local community to provide reassurance to them.
