Train passengers have been warned to allow extra time for their journeys today after two major faults on the Chiltern Railways network.

The railway company reported a signalling system fault on the line between Harrow-On-The-Hill and Amersham towards Aylesbury at around 8:30am.

Resulting disruption has included service cancellations and delays of up to 30 minutes on the stretch, with the impact continuing to be felt until 10:30am.

It comes after Chiltern Railways also apologised for a "major fault with a training fuelling system" at a central depot just after 6am today.

In what is turning into a disorderly day for train passengers, a raft of services between London and the south east have been cancelled as a result.

The short-notice timetable changes include the suspension of all Chiltern Railway trains between London Marylebone and Oxford until 5pm – impacting those travelling to and from Gerrards Cross, Beaconsfield, High Wycombe and Princes Risborough.

A spokesperson for the trainline said: “We're sorry for the delay to your journey. If you have been delayed by 15 minutes or more, then you are likely to be entitled to compensation. Claims can be made via this web link: https://www.chilternrailways.co.uk/delayrepay15.”
