A planning application has been put forward to transform a once-popular Chinese takeaway into a two-bedroom flat.

Located at 131 Station Road in Amersham, the plans were submitted to Buckinghamshire Council on October 28 to replace Ken’s Beijing into a living property.

The plans, if approved, will see the building be completely refurbished, reducing its capacity from a three-bedroom to a two-bedroom dwelling.

The building has been empty since May 1, 2023.

This was the final day that Ken's Beijing traded before they officially closed their doors for the final time.

Speaking to the Free Press at the time, the business owner, Jonny Leung, explained: “In hospitality, there are so many long hours, but it’s not just opening hours.

“It becomes a 24/7 job, my parents have been doing it for so many years.

“Me and my brother don’t want to work in that environment, our parents don’t want us to work in that environment either.

“Running a business is always difficult because the only way to make it profitable was if my parents were doing it themselves, but when you hire staff, take into account the increase in wages and rising costs you end up struggling, the entire business model is no longer working.

“We decided we’ll call it quits, and let our parents fully retire. It will be a perfect time.”

Prior to their closure, Ken Beijing had a score of 4.6/5 from 154 Google Reviews.
