It may be a celebrity favourite and commuter-friendly part of the world – but Buckinghamshire pales in comparison to its counterparts across England according to analysis from The Daily Telegraph.
The newspaper published its comprehensive ranking of the best counties in the country yesterday, October 29 – comparing regions on a range of criteria including their cultural appeal, green space and foodie scenes.
While you might think Buckinghamshire would have plenty of spots beaten on these fronts, it didn’t crack the top 10 or even the top 20 – falling just 13 points ahead of purported worst county in England Bedfordshire at number 35.

Bucks accrued 137 points for its ‘natural wonders’, 62 for ‘history and culture’, 40 for ‘luxuries’ and 103 for ‘peace and quiet’ – bringing its score to a total of 352.
For perspective, top dog Devon was awarded 981 points while Bedfordshire, which felt woefully short in the ‘luxuries’ category, ended the assessment with a respectable 247.
The top 10 counties according to the data were Devon, Cumbria, North Yorkshire, Cornwall, Somerset, Kent, Norfolk, Hampshire, Dorset and Greater London.
