A Chinese restaurant in Little Chalfont has been given a one-out-of-five food hygiene score after a surprise inspection last month.

The Full Moon on Station Approach was visited by a Buckinghamshire Council officer on September 18 – who found the takeaway spot lacking in a few crucial areas.

The business, which has an average Google rating of 3.9 from 63 reviews, was rated one-out-of-five stars on the food hygiene front.

Its worst performing category was food safety management – the systems or checks in place to ensure food sold or served on the premises is safe to eat and staff knowledge of safety practices.

Alongside the food safety issues – which were judged to be in need of 'major improvement' – The Full Moon also underperformed in the cleanliness category, with 'some improvement' deemed necessary to the condition of the building.

This can include the a failure to provide appropriate ventilation, handwashing facilities and pest control to ensure good food hygiene.

The takeaway's food handling measures were judged to be generally satisfactory.

Hygiene ratings are measured against UK-wide standards of food handling, premises condition and food management practices.

The scores range of from zero (in need of urgent improvement) to five (very good).

Unlike Wales and Northern Ireland, businesses in England aren't required to display ratings in their windows but it is generally considered best practice to do so.
