Police are warning of the ‘devastating consequences’ of knife crime on communities after five men were convicted in relation to the death of a 17-year-old in High Wycombe.

Cameron Bailey, from West Sussex, was fatally stabbed in King’s Court, Easton Street on May 7, 2023, after travelling to the area with a friend as part of a cross-county drug supply line.

Five men were convicted in relation to the teenager’s murder at Reading Crown Court yesterday, October 24, with 18-year-old Jayden Gubetini found guilty by a unanimous jury verdict of murder, attempted murder and other offences.

The stabbing rocked Wycombe after it happened on the king’s coronation weekend last year and was followed by a “very complex investigation” by Thames Valley Police into the “tragic case” that claimed a young life in the town centre.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Stuart May, of the Major Crime Unit, said: “Too often we are reminded of the danger of carrying and using knives, the devastating consequences and the impact such a short moment in time has on the victim, their family and friends.

“Violence and knife crime will never be tolerated in the Thames Valley and the offenders now have a long time in custody to reflect on their actions that night.”

DI May added that the force’s Operation Deter was focused on cracking down on knife offences and “robustly dealing with, charging and remanding” criminals before putting them before the courts.

“My thoughts and that of Thames Valley Police very much remain with the family of Cameron Bailey and his friend at this difficult time.

“My message to the community is if you have any information about anybody who is carrying a knife, please report this to us, either on 101 or by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers 100 per cent anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
