More than 150 independent cinemas across the UK are set to offer free screenings of an anticipated new film, Layla, including in High Wycombe.
The film, which features British-Palestinian drag queen Layla Hasna, will be previewed ahead of its UK release on Monday, November 11.
Supported by the BFI and National Lottery funding, the initiative, known as Escapes, aims to provide free access to independent films and to encourage more people to visit their cinemas.
Layla, a romance story set in East London's drag clubs, follows the titular character's journey of self-discovery.
Over 15,000 free tickets will be available for the preview across independent cinemas from Birmingham to Wales, Manchester, and Northern Ireland.
Tickets for the preview can be reserved now at Escapes website and will include descriptive subtitles.
This initiative aims to make cinema more accessible and to spotlight the charm of cinema.
Escapes will continue to announce a new film to preview every month.
The BFI is a cultural charity, and the UK's lead organisation for film and moving image.
Founded in 1933, the charity's aim is to support creativity, seek the next generation of UK storytellers, and offer the widest range of UK, international moving image through the use of programmes and festivals, and work with both government and industry to continue the growth of the UK's screen industries.
