Plans to erect a timber gazebo at an Amersham pub that dates back to the 15th century have been approved.
The Kings Arms Hotel, which is based along the town’s High Street, submitted the planning application on August 19, requesting permission to have an open sided gazebo installed.
This is to cover the hotel’s existing pizza oven and provide a weather-protected area for food preparation and serving.
The proposed structure will be situated on an area of existing grassland, around 76 metres rom the back of the main listed building.
The view of the proposed location will be ‘seen in context’ with the modern extension to the hotel and its carpark, which stretches away from the hotel.
A section of the planning application reads: “The proposed structure is low in height, not exceeding 2.92 metres in height, with a low pitched roof finished in cedar shingle tiles.
“Given the modest size open-sided nature and low height of the proposed structure, it is proposed that the erection of this building will have minimal impact upon the setting of the Grade II listed building resulting in less than substantial harm.”
Permission was granted on October 10 this year, and the pub have three years to install the gazebo.
