News that Liam Payne has died at the age of just 31 has sent shockwaves around the globe with many desperately trying to figure out what happened in the lead up to his untimely death. 

The former One Direction star was originally from Wolverhampton but he moved away from his home town.

Payne was part of the original line-up of the world-famous boy band, formed in 2010, alongside Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Harry Styles.

Where did Liam Payne live in the UK?

Liam Payne lived in the small Buckinghamshire village Chalfont St Giles, after buying a house there in 2021. 

He was understood to have chosen the location to be close by to the mother of his child and former partner Cheryl Tweedy (formerly Cole) who lives in the neighbouring village Chalfont St Peter.

The area is highly desirable to celebrities, actors and musicians for its quick access to London but it still boasts peaceful, quiet and private surroundings. 

Payne is said to have enjoyed living in Buckinghamshire and was a 'friendly and helpful' neighbour, according to those who lived nearby.

Thomas Evans, 17, who lives in St Turners Wood Drive, Chalfont St Giles, told the PA news agency that the former One Direction singer once came out of his house at 3am one night to come and check on Thomas and his siblings after they had an intruder on their property.

The singer, who lived in Chalfont St Giles, rose to global fame as part of One Direction, who formed in 2010 on The X Factor before going on to be one of the biggest pop groups in the world.

Payne first moved to Chalfont St Giles in 2020 to rent a £5 million property to be closer to his son Bear, according to reports at the time. 

He and Girls Aloud singer Cheryl were in a high-profile relationship between 2016 and 2018 with the couple previously living together in the nearby village Chalfont St Peter.

Alberto Crescenti, head of the state emergency medical system, said on Argentina’s Todo Noticias TV channel that Payne fell into a courtyard of the Casa Sur Hotel in the Palermo neighbourhood of Argentina’s capital, according to AP.

Payne is said to have been in Buenos Aires to attend the concert of his former bandmate Horan, having been seen dancing at his show two weeks ago at the Movistar Arena alongside his girlfriend Kate Cassidy.

After becoming one of the biggest pop groups in the world with five albums and four world tours, One Direction went on indefinite hiatus in 2016.

Payne released his debut solo album LP1 in December 2019 which included the singles Polaroid and Familiar.
